Nick Vaughan

Nick lives and works in the Highlands of Scotland.

Nick started his creative career as a Graphic Designer. A few years later he was drawn back to paint. Preferring the freedom that sometimes a computer screen doesn't offer and a more hands on approach to the creative process. He started painting professionally in 2006.

Passionate about Scottish wild places, Nick finds his inspiration in the Highland landscape that surrounds him, travelling the route recently named the North Coast 500 inspiring new ideas for his next painting. Nick's preferred medium is bold acrylic colour which he uses to mirror the vibrancy of the landscape.

His ability to translate scenes into bright up beat paintings has grown him a devoted following. With Nick's paintings there's an undeniable invitation to smile.

Nick enjoys exploring the hidden corners of the Highlands capturing the ever-changing play of light and reflections of local harbours and lonely lochs. Recreating the imposing mountains and drama of the coastlines through his eyes with a pinch of Mediterranean thrown in!

Always trying to challenge himself Nick's work has also included theatre set design and set building for youth stage productions in the Highlands.
