The rugged beauty of the Highland coastline is captured in Nick’s exhibition ‘Summer Shores’
Nick paints the Highland Coast - attractive crofts, quaint harbours and colourful fishing boats. Painted with bold acrylic colour enhanced with a pinch of Mediterranean influence adding warmth and intrigue.
Nick's journey from Graphic Designer to a professional painter in 2006 reflects his desire for freedom and a hands-on approach to creativity. Passionate about Scottish wild places, Nick draws inspiration from his travels around the Highland Coast and abroad.
Nick’s use of vivid colour mirrors the vibrancy of the coastal landscape. He brings life to the ever-changing play of light and reflections he finds creating paintings full of energy. The bold and upbeat nature of his work has gained Nick a devoted following. Bringing a smile and radiating positivity his paintings are snap shots of happy summer days along the coast.
Now based in Inverness, Nick graduated in Graphic Design from Birmingham University in 1992 after which he moved to Scotland. After working in Design and then Outdoor Education he was drawn back to his creative beginnings, inspired by the coastline around the Moray Firth. As well as being an extremely accomplished Trompe l'oeil artist, Nick Interprets the local landscape in a contemporary style using vivid colours and bringing a bold approach to some well-known scenes.
